Events
Tony Kruzman, Principal Pine Lake Elementary; Anna Olech, President Companion Pet Rescue; Byron, main character of Running Home; and Jennifer Charron Ward
Jennifer and Byron's speaking events have been enjoyed by many audiences. Other than schools, Jennifer has presented at animal rescue events, church fundraisers, state educator conferences, family reading nights, and book club discussions. Through ongoing recommendations, Jennifer has continued to travel and spread the word to kids and adults about developing their creative potential while making the dreams of homeless animals come true.
Both the Running Home and Black of Night presentations are similar in that they discuss how a normal, everyday person can write and publish a book. Jennifer highlights her own life experiences through pictures and stories then addresses animal facts, showing photos of animal success stories donated by various rescue organizations. By taking Byron with her, not only does the audience meet the main character of Running Home, but they see a real dog that went from a neglectful situation to a loving, forever family. Afterward, there is a question and answer period and time to pet Byron on the way out.
Each presentation takes about forty-five minutes and can be custom fit for different groups. In a school setting, it can either be done as one large assembly or broken down into several smaller presentations. Running Home is appropriate for third through eighth grade audiences, and Black of Night is appropriate for fifth through ninth grade audiences. Both books are available for preorder and purchase on the day of the event. Discounted book prices are offered to schools, and donations from proceeds can be expected at fundraising events.

Here are some praises from students, teachers, and media specialists:
| "BRAVO AUTHOR!!!!! I want to thank you, Anna, and Byron for coming to Pine Lake School and presenting a delightful and meaningful book to us. The fourth and fifth graders were mesmorized by the personal connections you had in the story, Byron's life story and learning about animal rescue. You could hear a pin drop as you read a chapter from Running Home. The presentation was not only fun, interesting, and age appropriate but it also sent a clear, heartfelt message to the children that animals deserve respect, care, and a loving home. BRAVO AUTHOR!!! You will definitely be invited back." —Tony Kruzman, Principal, Pine Lake Elementary |

Thanks very much for coming!" —Jody Owens, Teacher, Carpenter Elementary |
"Jennifer's visit to our middle school was a great success! The students enjoyed meeting a published author who kept them interested by her personal story and photographs. The appeance of Byron was the highlight of the visit, and Anna's slideshow gave the students a great insight into the problem of abandoned animals. The best testimonial I can give is that the when students were offered a second chance to see the presentation, they gave up their lunch hour to do so!" —Ann Jaski, Media Specialist, Anderson Middle School |
| "I'm from Carpenter Elementary, and I finished Running Home. I absolutely loved the book. I personally think it's great! If you made a movie or another story of your animals, I would buy either one. You made Running Home so interesting, I felt like I was right there in the book. The booger part was gold! I laughed so hard, and I thank you so much for letting me buy it." —Joshua H., Elementary Student |
"I finished Running Home with my son and wanted to let you know that we enjoyed your book SO MUCH!!! You have a wonderful style of writing, and the story was so clever. It was such a great experience reading it with my son, and he really enjoyed looking at the pictures at the end, as did I. I keep Byron close to my heart now. I will soon begin reading with my daughter who is seven years old and loves animals." —Elizabeth S., Elementary Parent |
| "I'm nine years old and in the third grade. I bought a signed copy of your book today, and I can describe it in one word - awesome! I love this book! I just love the plot in this story and how you make it sound like your awesome dog, Byron, is telling the story. I just love the book period. Your book ROCKS!!!" —Brendan H., Elementary Student |
"When you presented Running Home to me and my class, I decided that I wanted to write a book of my own. I actually have a story about my two kittens from the shelter. Hopefully, mine will be as good as your book. I can't wait until the next book comes out!" —Lauren F., Elementary Student |
